During our 2nd Saturday Gallery Stroll, Eureka Thyme will feature Doug Powell and his drums. One of his most popular drums is styled after the African Ashiko. “Ashiko” means freedom in Nigerian, and we feel that freedom is what they bring – freedom to let the Spirit move, to reclaim the natural rhythm of the soul and to allow joy into our lives.

“Drums speak the language of vibration that creates a unity of heart. Drums provide a means of communication beyond words, connecting everyone to the deep rhythms of life that transcend all boundaries.
We honor the Native American belief that the drum echoes the heartbeat of the Earth. We offer our drums as instruments of peace, connection and reverence for the Earth and all beings on it.”
Meet Doug and his apprentice, Caleb Bomar, on Saturday, December 11th, from 1 to 4 p.m. and again from 6 to 9 p.m.
