Gallery Stroll September 2011

By eurekathyme

Saturday, September 10, promises to be a wonderful Gallery Stroll. This will be the final day in our punch card promotion, featuring 14 galleries of Eureka Springs. Pick up a card and let it lead you through the Art of Eureka!

"Dance Like Nobody's Watching", Flame on Copper Painting by David Rush

At Eureka Thyme we will feature David Rush, who has been creating flame on copper paintings for a number of years. This year he’s come up with a twist on his creations! He has a new series which he calls, “Dance Like Nobody’s Watching”. I must be honest in saying this is one of the most exciting series of paintings I have ever seen! He will be featured on September 10th during the 2nd Saturday Gallery Stroll in downtown Eureka Springs. Meet David and Melanie — oh, I almost forgot!! Melanie Myhre is a wonderful artist who works in traditional painting format, glass, paper, and photography, which we will be featuring this week. She is doing some innovative work which I think of as transformation photography, and we look forward to sharing this with you. David and Melanie will be with us from 1-4 p.m. and again from 6 to 9 p.m during the regularly scheduled Stroll.

“Self-Meditated” at Eureka Thyme

By eurekathyme

We will introduce a new series of paintings by Sherry Young, a long-time resident of our town. Sherry says of her work: “I was born to be an artist. It’s been my passion for as long as I can remember! My schooling in the arts has been the School of Life. My inspiration can be from seeing a color or a pattern, and a piece of art is born from there.
Most of the time, all I need is a canvas or a blank piece of paper.
As I look at it, a picture always comes to me.”

Meet the Starbirds on May 28th

By eurekathyme

Ken’s ceramic work and Sandy’s fabric art will be highlighted,
with many new pieces on display.

Sandy’s fiber, fabric and found objects figures are the culmination of years of exploration and adventures in sewing, dyeing, weaving, crocheting, basketry, beading and hand building with clay and anything else that sounds like fun.

Ken describes his work in these words: “Creativity is that process which gives external form to inner ideas or feelings evolving from things past, bridging to things future and recording a finite moment of self-awareness.”

Meet Ken and Sandy from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, and again during the regular hours for Strolls, 6 to 9 p.m.
