A touch of fall is in the air and it’s a perfect time of year to visit. While you’re here, be sure to catch our 2nd Saturday Gallery Stroll on September 11th. Our nine associate galleries will have special events and shows.

Iris at the Basin Park will feature local artist, D.G. Womack. A painter who utilizes a variety of techniques to express herself on canvas, D.G. will be unveiling her newest ‘three-dimensional Impressionism’ creation. Her painting using this technique and entitled ‘Sacred Grove’, won the People’s Choice Award at the May Eureka Springs Invitational Art Show. D.G. will be in the gallery from 1-4 PM and 6-9 PM to greet customers and explain her work.

At Eureka Thyme, our featured items will be art gourds created by Joyce Campbell and Theresa Johnson. Gourds dating back to prehistoric times were used for storage, musical instruments, utensils, masks, currency and much more. Now gourds are often purely an art form. Joyce and Theresa use gourds grown and finished in the Ozarks. Each piece is unique. Join us to meet them and hear about how they create these beautiful works of art. 1-4 p.m. and again from 6 to 9 p.m.

Remember this is the last day of our punch card promotion! Visit all the participating galleries, have your card punched, and be in a drawing for a 500-dollar gift certificate.

The August 2010 Gallery Stroll doubled as an avenue for collecting much-needed items for our local Animal Shelter, the Good Shepherd Humane Society. There were 70 cans of food, 56 pounds of dry food collected, plus 7 bags of treats, toys, flea powder, collars and shampoo and a leash.

Iris at the Basin Park raised $164 from the raffle of prints from Zeek Taylor and Karrie Evenson specifically for this event.

From a human interest standpoint, Nancy Wines and Wayne Schmidt of The Jewel Box, are caring for two puppies which were dumped at their place. The Shelter has no room for them and they hope someone will be able to find room in their heart and home for one or both of these girls!

Jim and Susan Nelson, of J. A. Nelson Gallery, have rescued a feral cat and her FIVE babies. These little ones are solid black and are looking for homes.

The Eureka Springs Gallery Association joins in supporting the Good Shepherd Humane Society during its Second Saturday Stroll. The member galleries will be collecting food, toys and, of course, dollars for the benefit of our local animal shelter. We appreciate the wonderful job this society is doing in our town and know you support their constant, loving efforts. This event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on August 14th. This month’s Second Saturday event will benefit the Flint Street Food Bank. The stroll takes place from 6 to 9 o’clock and 10% of the member galleries’ sales during the gallery stroll will be donated to the Flint Street Food Bank. In addition, canned goods will be accepted at all of our galleries for donation to the food bank. Please join us Saturday, July 10 for a special evening to benefit the Flint Street Food Bank.

As usual, there will be featured artists and refreshments for this event.

At the Jewel Box, Courtney Trimble is showing new originals in prisma colors, including a spiral landscape of Eureka Springs. Her spiral style is a fanciful interpretation of her subject in contrast to her very realistic paintings of wildlife and botanicals. We will have these, along with prints and cards.

During the 2nd Saturday Gallery Stroll in July we will partner with the Flint Street Food Bank in order to help them provide food for the needs of others. More details to follow soon!
